106 <br /> <br />Resolution Authorizinq the County Fire Marshal to Issue Permits for Public <br />Display of Pyrotechnics <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 1998-42 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF AUTHORIZATION TO GRANT AND ISSUE PERMITS FOR <br /> THE USE OF PYROTECHNIC AT PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, CABA-RRUS COUNTY is a political subdivision of the State of <br />North Carolina; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners for Cabarrus County is the legal <br />governing body for the County; and <br /> WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statue 14-413 empowers and authorizes <br />the Board of Commissioners of each County to issue permits for use of <br />pyrotechnic in connection with the conduct of public exhibitions. <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF CABARRUS <br />COUNTY THAT: <br /> The Cabarrus County Fire Marshal is authorized on the behalf of the <br />Board of Commissioners, to grant and issue permits for the use of <br />pyrotechnics for public display, only after satisfactory evidence is produced <br />that the requirements of the North Carolina State Fire Code and National Fire <br />Protection Association's document 1123 are met. <br /> Adopted this the 21st dgy of December, 1998 at a duly scheduled meeting <br />of the Board of Commissioners, at the Cabarrus County Governmental Center, 65 <br />Church St., S.E., Concord, North Carolina. <br /> <br />By: /s/ Jeffrey L. Barnhart <br />Chairman of the Board of Commissioners <br />For Cabarrus County, North Carolina <br /> <br />Adoption of Proclamation Relative to the Annual United Way Campaiqn <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br /> PROCLAMATION <br />Cabarrus County <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, United Way of Central Carolinas, Inc. has completed its <br />largest ever campaign for Cabarrus County, under the leadership of Richard <br />Snyder; and <br /> WHEREAS, United Way has achieved a double-digit percentage increase in <br />giving for the past two years; and <br /> WHEREAS, individual donors, local businesses, and their employees <br />generously donated to the campaign in support of the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, funds raised through the campaign will support 20 United Way <br />member agencies in Cabarrus County and other community groups, serving more <br />than 40,000 Cabarrus County citizens a year; and <br /> WHEREAS, the work of United Way builds a stronger, healthier, more <br />prosperous and livable community for all members; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus Board of County Commissioners do <br />hereby express their sincere appreciation to United Way of Central Carolinas, <br />Inc., its Board and volunteers, and to each individual who gave of their <br />resources. <br /> Adopted this the 21st day of December 1998. <br /> <br /> /s/Jeffrey L.
