535 <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />(2) <br />(3) <br /> <br />Leave would be limited to regular full-time employees (class <br />IOi). <br />Leave would be granted for only (1) one course at a time. <br />Reimbursement for course expenses would be limited to a <br />maximum of $400 in tuition per course. <br /> <br /> It was noted that no funds have been appropriated for this program. <br />However, there was general agreement that the costs would be charged to the <br />individual departments and that lapsed salary funds could be used to fund the <br />program. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Olio-Mills, seconded by Commissioner Casper <br />with Commissioners Olio-Mills, Casper and Fennel and Chairman Barnhart voting <br />for, the Board adopted the following amendment to Article VI, Leaves of Absence, <br />of the Cabarrus County Personnel Ordinance. <br /> <br />Amend Article VI, Leaves of Absence, of the Cabarrus County <br />Personnel Ordinance, to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 28. Educational Leave <br />An educational leave of absence, with or without pay, may be granted <br />to a regular full-time employee to take one course per semester or <br />term which will better equip the employee to perform job related <br />duties. Each request would have to be approved by the department <br />head and the County Manager. Leave will be granted to only attend <br />institutions accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and <br />Schools. An employee granted educational leave with pay shall agree <br />in writing to return to their regular work schedule with the county <br />upon completion of training and to remain in the employ of the <br />county for a period equal to twice the educational leave received, <br />or to reimburse the county for all compensation received while on <br />educational leave and tuition costs reimbursed to the employee for <br />the course. <br /> <br />An employee on educational leave with full pay shall continue to <br />earn leave credits and any other benefits to which county employees <br />are entitled. An employee on educational leave with partial pay <br />shall earn proportional leave credits and benefits. <br /> <br />Employees who are eligible for the educational incentive program, as <br />contained in Appendix G, shall not be eligible for educational leave <br />with pay.. <br /> <br />Reimbursement for Tuition, Fees and Books <br />An employee may receive reimbursement for one (1) course at a time <br />(including those taken outside of working hours) which will better <br />equip the employee to perform assigned duties, subject to the <br />approval of the department head and the County Manager. The county <br />shall reimburse the employee for tuition costs (up to $400), <br />provided the employee submits a receipt of tuition expenses and a <br />notice of successful completion (passing grade or better) of the <br />course from institution accredited by the Southern Association of <br />Colleges and Schools. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS CONSENT <br /> <br />Road Petitions Additions to State System <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Fennel with <br />Chairman Barnhart and Commissioners Fennel, Casper and Olio-Mills voting for, the <br />Board approved the addition of the following roads to the State road system: <br />Midvale Terrace, D. C. Drive, Melanie Court, Randall Court, and Dessie Court. <br /> <br />Proclamation - Adult Day Care Week in Cabarrus County <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Fennel with <br />Chairman Barnhart and Commissioners Fennel, Casper and Olio-Mills voting for, the <br />Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br /> <br />
