60 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, professional social workers work on the front lines <br />of human service delivery to help families and individuals develop <br />skills to lead productive and satisfying lives; <br /> WHEREAS, professional social workers see first-hand the <br />challenges families and individuals face to meet their <br />responsibilities; <br /> WHEREAS, professional social workers recognize that any <br />environment, whether it contains physical violence, emotional or <br />psychological abuse, or discrimination, weakens the basic right of <br />every individual to live with dignity; <br /> WHEREAS, professional social workers know that pervasive <br />violence causes physical, emotional or psychological suffering and <br />impedes individual growth and development; <br /> WHEREAS, the social work professional works concurrently to <br />help families through community, institutional, and public-policy <br />initiatives; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, in recognition of professional social workers <br />and all that they do in helping families and individuals move beyond <br />impediments to a life of accomplishment, dignity, and purpose, I, <br />Jeffrey L. Barnhart, Ghatrman of the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners, proclaim the month of March, 1994, as Professional <br />Social Worker Month, and call upon members of the community to'join <br />with the social work profession in support of appropriate programs, <br />ceremonies, and activities designed to achieve its goals. <br /> This the seventh day of March nineteen hundred and ninety- <br />four. <br /> /s/ Jeffrey L. Barnhart <br /> <br />Proclamation - Employ the Older Worker Week <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a large number of the older adults in Cabarrus County <br /> and throughout the State of North Carolina are <br /> unemployed; and <br />WHEREAS, these middle-aged and older workers bring extensive <br /> experience and high job qualifications to the work force <br /> of the County and the State, and are steady, reliable <br /> workers; and <br />WHEREAS, the local office of the Employment Security Commission <br /> of North Carolina is part of a national effort to <br /> stimulate awareness of the assets of the older worker; <br /> and <br />WHEREAS, in order to focus on the employment needs of older <br /> workers, the second full week of March is observed <br /> annually as "Employ the Older Worker Week" throughout <br /> the State of North Carolina. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the Gabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />proclaims March 13 - 19, 1994 as "Employ the Older Worker Week" in <br />Cabarrus County and urges our employers to add invaluable experience <br />and knowledge to their staffs through the employment of older <br />adults. <br /> This the 7th day of March, 1994. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />/s/ Frankie F.
