223 <br /> <br />Health Department - Budget Amendments (Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program <br />Grant Funds) and Personnel Request Relative to Health Educator Positions <br /> <br /> Ms. Cindy Walker, Allied Health Supervisor, 'reviewed the Health <br />Department's on-going Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program which provides <br />mammograms, pap smears, and education to low income women. To utilize additional <br />State money and expand the program, Ms. Walker requested the addition of a half- <br />time health educator position to increase community organization and outreach <br />efforts. She further requested that the hours for an existing health educator <br />position be reduced by 25 percent and that this 25 percent be applied to the new <br />half-time position. According to Ms. Walker, this change will help to meet the <br />personal needs of the existing health educator as well as enhance the <br />marketability of the new part-time position. The reduction in hours for the <br />existing position will be effective when the new position is filled. <br /> <br /> Chairman Barnhart arrived at 4:50 P.M. and presided over the remainder of <br />the meeting. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Vice-Chairman Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following budget amendments <br />appropriating the additional State funds for the Breast and Cervical Cancer <br />Control Program, establishing the new part-time health educator position at 75 <br />percent, and reducing an existing full-time health educator position to 75 <br />percent.
