The local Health <br />Department will seek funding and take appropriate steps to implement this service <br />pending the decision by the State officials. <br /> <br />Senior Tar Heel Legislature Report - Mr Jim Graeber <br /> <br /> Mr. Jim Graeber, Senior Tar Heel Legislature delegate for Cabarrus County, <br />gave an update on the Legislature which was created by the North Carolina General <br />Assembly in 1993. He stated the purpose of the Legislature is to: (1) Provide <br />information and education to senior citizens on the legislative process and <br />matters being considered by the General Assembly; (2) Promote citizen involvement <br />and advocacy concerning aging issues before the General Assembly; and (3) Assess <br />legislative needs of older citizens by convening a forum modeled after the <br />General Assembly. According to Mr. Graeber, the Legislature was successful <br />during the past year in achieving its top priority of securing additional State <br />funding for in-home health care. He invited anyone with questions to contact <br />either himself or Ms. Betty Babb, the alternate delegate for Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> Chairman Barnhart expressed the Board's appreciation to Mr. Graeber for his <br />work with the Senior Tar Heel Legislature. <br /> <br />Cable Television - Proposed Rate Review Procedures <br /> <br /> Mr. Witherspoon advised the Board that the Centralina Council of <br />Governments would do a main rate review on Vision Cable of Metrolina, the cable <br />operator that' serves the major portion of Cabarrus County. A review is not <br />planned at this time for Vision Cable of North Carolina, Inc., which serves a <br />small area of the county adjacent to Mecklenburg County. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Vice-Chairman Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Casper and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following "Procedure for Cable <br />Television Basic Services Rate Review" for Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County <br />PROCEDURE FOR CABLE TELEVIS.ION BASIC SERVICES RATE REVIEW <br /> <br />Filing of basic services rate change request: <br /> Ail requests must be filed in writing simultaneously <br /> with both Cabarrus County and Centraltna Council of <br /> Governments (Attn: David Galati, Centralina Council of <br /> Governments, P.O. Box 35008, Charlotte, NC 28235) <br /> Ail requests must be filed a minimum of thirty (30) days <br /> prior to proposed implementation. <br /> Ail requests must include the following financial <br /> information, as applicable: <br /> Benchmark information, including applicable <br /> Federal Communications Commission (FCC) forms, <br /> and work sheets; <br /> Cost of service information, including applicable <br /> FCC forms and work sheets; <br /> Other financial information which may be <br /> necessary to verify application of appropriate <br /> FCC formula; <br /> Additional information which may be requested by <br /> Gentralina Council of Governments during the <br /> review process. <br /> <br /> <br />
