F. Shinn Contractor, Inc. were $2,029,935.50, <br />or approximately $243,000.00 over the original construction budget <br />of $1,787,000.00. He stated that negotiations with Concord <br />Builders, Inc., and R. F. Shinn Contractor, Inc. were begun <br />immediately following the Bid Opening. Mr. Watson summarized the <br />results of these negotiations as follows. <br /> <br />R. F. Shinn Contractor, Inc.ts contract can be reduced <br />by $14,200.00 to $780,735.50 by changing 12 of the 14 5- <br />foot diameter manholes to 4-foot diameter manholes. <br />This is accomplished without jeopardy to the project or <br />design intent. <br /> <br />The Contract S, Single Prime bid of Concord Builders, <br />Inc. can be reduced by $145,000.00 to $1,090,000.00 by <br />modifications to the scope of the project. Replace stairs and sidewalk with <br />asphalt paving. <br />Begin access road improvements at Station 9+85, <br />reducing the length of road improvements by 985 <br />LF. <br />Eliminate on-site asphalt paving and reduce depth <br />of stone in access drive from 8 inches to 6 <br />inches. <br />Reconfigure plant water service to allow <br />elimination of one backflow preventer. <br />Allow all site drainage lines to be SDR 35 PVC or <br />Schedule 40 PVC in lieu of ductile iron. <br />Change plant water service from 6-inch DIP to 6- <br />inch AW-WA C900 PVC. <br />Delete laboratory casework (cabinets, <br />countertops, etc.). <br />Delete automatic sludge wasting system and <br />automatic valves. <br />Change standby generator from 150 kW totally <br />enclosed unit to 100 kW weatherproof unit with <br />integral fuel tank. <br /> <br /> <br />
