182 <br /> <br />BEGINNING at an iron, a corner of Faggart in Smith's line; thence S. <br />38-29-50 W., 758.95 feet to an iron set in an elm stump; (2) S. 2- <br />55-10 E. 336.89 feet to a p.k. nail in the center of the right-of- <br />way of North Carolina Highway 73; thence with the center of the <br />right-of way of North Carolina Highway 73, S. 82-01-30 W. 113.41 <br />feet to a point in the center of the right-of-way, a new corner with <br />Cabarrus County; thence the following new lines with Cabarrus <br />County: (1) N. 14-40-18 E. 364.23 feet to a point; (2) N. 21-10-30 <br />E., 339.05 feet to a point; (3) N. 00-00-15 W., 398.58 feet to an <br />iron set in the line of Everett Helms; thence with the common line <br />of Helms and Faggart, S. 71-03-50 E. 372.90 feet to the BEGINNING, <br />containing 2.9735 acres, more or less, as computed. <br /> <br />Road Petitions Additions to the State System <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the addition of the following roads to <br />the State road system: Indian Summer Trail, Havencrest Court Extension, and <br />Lyerly Ridge Road. <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />"Reinvest in America" Resolution - Commissioner Barnhart <br /> <br /> Commissioner Barnhart presented the "Reinvest in America" Resolution, as <br />revised. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Chairman Carpenter and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />We, the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County, North Carolina, <br />do hereby adopt the following resolution in support of new federal <br />budget priorities for the United States of America. <br /> <br />Whereas, we believe that America's greatest natural resource lies <br />within the minds of our children. <br /> <br />And whereas, our nation's success in the post-Cold War world will <br />depend on the ability of our people to educate each and every child, <br />so as to best utilize our nation's greatest natural resource. <br /> <br />And whereas, the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County, North <br />Carolina are committed to supporting the quality education of every <br />child in our community. <br /> <br />And whereas, no single county has the financial capacity to continue <br />the expensive battle against the social problems that plague our <br />communities, meet the many other needs of our citizens, meet the <br />many mandates placed on us by Federal and State Governments and put <br />the dollars into the classroom necessary to support the level of <br />education required to meet the global economic challenge of the <br />future. <br /> <br />And whereas, the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet <br />Union offer our great nation a once-in-a-generation opportunity to <br />rethink our national spending priorities. <br /> <br />Therefore, be it resolved, that the Board of Commissioners of <br />Cabarrus County, North Carolina urges the Congress and President- <br />Elect Clinton to make the quality education of our children <br />America's top priority with adequate financial support. <br /> <br />And be it further resolved, that the Board of Commissioners of <br />Cabarrus County, North Carolina urges the Congress and President- <br />Elect Clinton to work closely with parents, teachers and school <br /> <br /> <br />
