Ruffin, County Manager, reported that he had discussed the
following three options with department heads relative to the designation of
Martin Luther King's Birthday as a County holiday: (1) Add Martin Luther
King's Birthday as a new holiday on the County schedule; (2) Amend current
schedule to coincide with State schedule whereby the third day at Christmas
would be eliminated and Martin Luther King's Birthday added; or (3) Add a
Personal Choice day to the holiday schedule. He stated the department heads had
preferred the substitution of the County holiday schedule with the State holiday
schedule. No action was taken and this matter will be scheduled for
consideration by the Board at a later date.
