<br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Simmons, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter with
<br />Chairman Simmons and Commissioners Carpenter, Hamby and Payne voting for, the
<br />Board moved to add the following items relative to the Coddle Creek Reservoir
<br />Project tO the agenda: Land acquisitions, sale of mobile home, and donation of
<br />real property for fire service training.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Simmons, seconded by Commissioner Payne with
<br />Chairman Simmons and Commissioners Payne, Carpenter And Hamby voting for, the
<br />Board authorized the acquisition of a house and approximately three acres of
<br />property belonging to David and Mary Kiser for the Coddle Creek Reservoir
<br />project at a cost of $111,000.00.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter with
<br />Commissioners Payne, Carpenter, and Hamby and Chairman Simmons voting for, the
<br />Board authorized the purchase of approximately nine acres of property from Mr.
<br />and Mrs. John Sullivan for the Coddle Creek REservoir project at a cost of
<br />$31,750.00.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Chairman Simmons with
<br />Commissioners Carpenter, Hamby, and Payne and Chairman Simmons voting for, the
<br />Board authorized the advertisement for the sale of a mobile home, which is
<br />surplus to the needs of Cabarrus County and located on County-owned property,
<br />to Lester Wilkinson at a cost of $500.00 subject to the ten-day notice
<br />requirement.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Chairman Simmons with
<br />Commissioners Hamby, Carpenter, and Payne and Chairman Simmons voting for, the
<br />Board agreed to donate a dilapidated structure known as the Correll house which
<br />is located at the Coddle Creek Reservoir site to the Odell Volunteer Fire
<br />Department for the purpose of fire service instruction subject to the ten-day
<br />notice requirement and corresponding approval from HDR Engineering, Inc. The
<br />house, which is surplus to the needs of the County, is not salvageable and has
<br />no market value.

<br />COUNTY MANAGER REPORTS
<br />
<br /> Mr. Michael M. Ruffin, County Manager, reminded the Board of the North
<br />Carolina Association of County Commissioners Legislative Briefing scheduled for
<br />April 11 in Raleigh.. He asked if the Board wished to schedule a dinner for the
<br />legislative delegation for that evening in conjunction with Union County.
<br />Chairman Simmons instructed Mr. Ruffin to make tentative arrangements for the
<br />dinner with the legislative delegation.
<br /> Mr. Ruffin also advised the Board of the National Association of Counties
<br />Annual Conference scheduled for July in Salt Lake City, Utah. He pointed out
<br />that reservations for the conference would need to be made as soon as possible
<br />to insure accommodations in the North Carolina hotels.
<br /> Also, Mr. Ruffin announced that the Board was hosting a dinner at 7:00
<br />P.M. on Friday, March 8, 1991, at Pity's Sake Lodge for the Cabarrus County and
