Small <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION TO PROCLAIM <br />BILLY JAY HOLDER DAY IN <br />CABARRUS COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the people of Cabarrus County are eternally indebted to <br />the United States Armed Forces and especially the 485th <br />Army Reserve Training Unit for their service to our <br />nation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />these men and women have selflessly and tirelessly <br />devoted themselves to their duty in the defense of our <br />nation and in support of the world community through the <br />enforcement of Resolutions adopted by the United <br />Nations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the overwhelming success of Operation Desert Storm was <br />only possible through the efforts of those hundreds of <br />thousands of Americans and allied coalition partners who <br />planned, prepared and conducted one of the most <br />successful military actions in the history of the world; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />each person serving in the armed forces in support of <br />Operation Desert Storm made an enormous sacrifice for <br />the cause of peace in the world, but none sacrificed <br />more than those who gave their lives for the success of <br />Operation Desert Storm and for the cause of peace <br />throughout the world; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Billy Jay Holder, of our community, was one of those who <br />died during that conflict, and who, in the words of <br />Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg, "gave the last full <br />measure of devotion". <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of <br /> the County of Cabarrus do on this date suspend its proceedings <br /> to offer a moment of silent prayer and meditation for Billy <br /> Jay Holder in commemoration of his sacrifice and for his <br /> family and friends who greatly mourn his loss. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of the <br /> County of Cabarrus, North Carolina, hereby proclaims March 17, <br /> 1991, BILLY JAY HOLDER DAY in honor of Billy Jay Holder and <br /> his family, so that we may express our appreciation to them <br /> and honor their sacrifice permanently in the records of this <br /> great County. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 4th day of March, 1991. <br /> <br />/s/ Frankte F. Simmons, Jr. <br /> Chairman <br /> <br /> The Board held a moment of silent prayer in memory of PFC Jackson and SSG <br />Holder. Chairman Simmons then recessed the meeting until 7:00 P.M. Chairman Simmons reconvened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Simmons, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with <br />Chairman Simmons and Commissioners Hamby, Carpenter and Payne voting for, the <br />Board adopted the two Resolutions as set forth above declaring March 10, 1991 <br /> <br /> <br />
