56 <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby proclaim the week of April 7-13, 1991, as <br />"County Government Week in Cabarrus County" and urges all citizens <br />to be more involved in and aware of issues affecting county <br />government. <br /> <br />Adopted this 4th day of March, 1991. <br /> <br /> /s/ Billy J, Simmons, Jr, <br />Billy J. Simmons, Or., Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br /> Chairman Simmons announced that the official Ground Breaking Ceremony for <br />the Coddle Creek Reservoir would be held on Sunday, April 7, 1991, at 2:00 P.M. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne with <br />Commissioners Hamby, Payne, and Carpenter and Chairman Simmons voting for, the <br />Board approved the following Budget Revision/Amendment Request. <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES <br />AMOUNT $14,714.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Request 21 additional room temperature sensors for the <br /> Governmental Center. Additional hard drive and maintenance management <br /> software package for P.C. needed to monitor and regulate heating and air <br /> in Governmental Center. <br /> <br /> Line Item Present Approved Revised <br />Account Number Budget %ncrease Decrease Budget <br /> <br />01-6-17-35-101 <br /> Intangible Tax <br /> <br />$1,229,204.00 <br /> <br />$14,714.00 <br /> <br />$1,243,918.00 <br /> <br />01-9-34-10-860 $ 25,774.06 <br /> Capital Outlay-Equipment <br /> <br />14,714.00 40,488.06 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter with <br />Commissioners Hamby, Carpenter, and Payne and Chairman Simmons voting for, the <br />Board adopted the following Resolution and authorized Chairman Simmons to send <br />a copy of the resolution and a letter requesting support to each of the County's <br />legislative delegation. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING <br />A CHANGE IN THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA <br /> AT CHARLOTTE'S MISSION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the present and future economic and educational well- <br />being of Cabarrus County and our region is of <br />fundamental importance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the absence of a major research university in the region <br />is considered to be a substantial impediment to further <br />development; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is the <br />only institution in the region with potential to become <br />a research institution. <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of <br />Cabarrus County recommends to the President and Board of Governors <br />of The University of North Carolina: <br /> <br />That the mission of The University of North Carolina at <br />Charlotte be revised to confer status as a national <br />research university offering doctoral programs, and <br /> <br />That the "campus" of The University of North Carolina <br />at Charlotte be defined formally as the region; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus <br /> County fully endorses the following specific statement of <br /> <br /> <br />
