Simmons, Jr. <br /> <br /> It was noted that the contracts for the Bicentennial Commission and <br />Communities in Schools as well as the contracts for the Town of Mt. Pleasant and <br />the Mt. Pleasant Rural Volunteer Fire Departments would be brought back at a <br />later date for the Board's approval~ <br /> Commissioner Hamby reported that the 26 cents per month telephone line <br />charge had begun July 1, 1991 for the E-911 service. The service is to be <br />implemented no later that October, 1992. <br /> Chairman Simmons reported that the recently published Public School Forum <br />has ranked Cabarrus County as 37th in the state for local funding. It was noted <br />this ranking was based upon the 1990-1991 fiscal year budget. <br /> Commissioner Hamby stated that the Board had failed to include funding <br />for word processing equipment for the establishment of the typing pool as <br />approved in the budget. Chairman Simmons requested information relative to the <br />cost of the equipment for the next Board meeting. <br /> Commissioner Hamby reported that two County programs had been submitted <br />for consideration in the 1991 Outstanding County Program Awards sponsored by the <br />North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. These two programs had been <br />selected from seven departmental programs which had been submitted for local <br />consideration. <br /> Chairman Simmons also reported that Mr. Alvin Stanford, County Extension <br />Director, had been selected as the 1991 State winner in the Search for <br />Excellence Awards Program, Administrative Management Category, sponsored by the <br />North Carolina Association of County Agricultural Agents for the Cabarrus County <br />Extension quarterly newsletter. He will be recognized nationally for this award <br />at a conference in Peoria, Illinois. The Board has been asked to provide travel <br />expenses to the conference and Chairman Simmons requested Ms. Diane Seaford, <br />Budget Officer, to determine if funds are budgeted for this trip. <br /> The Board will recognize the various County programs and Mr. Alvin <br />Stanford at its next meeting on July 22. <br /> Chairman Simmons recessed the meeting at 7:55 P.M. until the conclusion <br />of the meeting of the Water and Sewer District. <br /> Chairman Simmons reconvened the meeting at 8:02 P.M. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Payne with <br />Commissioners Barnhart, Payne, and Carpenter and Chairman Simmons voting for and <br />Commissioner Hambyabstaining, the Board adopted the following Agreement between <br />Cabarrus County, the City of Concord, and the Pitts Volunteer Fire Department, <br />Inc. <br /> <br />STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />COUNTY OF CABARRUS <br /> <br />AGREEMENT <br /> <br /> THIS AG~EMENT, by and between the Pitts Volunteer Fire <br />Department, Inc.
