212 <br /> <br />Appeal: If the participant feels that the permanent exclusion is <br />unfair, he/she may submit a written grievance to the Advisory Board. <br />The Advisory Board will then schedule a joint hearing with the <br />participant and the staff. At this time the participant will <br />present his appeal and the staff will present their reasons for <br />exclusion. The Board's decision regarding the exclusion shall be <br />final. <br /> <br />POLICY ON CHILDREN IN THE SENIOR CENTER <br /> <br />It is the policy of the Cabarrus County Senior Center to be open to <br />senior adults age 60 and over. Children are welcome in the senior <br />center only under the following conditions: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />2) <br />3) <br /> <br />When participating with a group in an tntergenerational <br />activity sponsored and supervised by the center's staff. <br />When accompanying an adult applying for services. <br />When acting in a volunteer capacity. <br /> <br />The adult is responsible for the child's supervision and care. <br /> <br />Children are not welcome at the center under the following <br />conditions: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />When accompanying adult participating in Title III SSBG or <br />state funded services such as congregate meals, <br />transportation, etc. <br />When accompanying adults to center sponsored activities <br />intended for senior adults (i.e., classes, recreational <br />activities). <br /> <br />Visits by staff's children should be kept at a minimum, be of short <br />duration, and should not interfere with office routine. <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY SENIOR CENTER <br />CONSIGNMENT SHOP POLICY AND PROCEDURES <br /> <br />The Consignment Shop is a program of Cabarrus County Senior Center. <br />The program is designed to provide for the display and sale of <br />handicraft items made by older adults as a vehicle to demonstrate <br />the talents and abilities of this age group while encouraging <br />meaningful activity. Additionally, the program provides a means by <br />which participants can earn some extra income. <br /> <br />Individuals participating in the Consignment Shop program must be <br />Cabarrus County residents aged 60 or older. Participants shall <br />present items to office for product description and sale price of <br />item. Cabarrus County Department of Aging shall increase the price <br />by 30% to offset cost of implementing this service. <br /> <br />Ail goods displayed for sale must be made by the participating <br />senior adult. Flea market and yard sale items will not be accepted, <br />nor will craft items purchased from another individual. The Senior <br />Center may choose to sell other non-craft items such as books, tee <br />shirts, or snacks as approved by the County. <br /> <br />Live items such as plants and perishable food stuffs will not be <br />accepted for display or sale except during special events or <br />promotions. <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Senior Center Staff is responsible for <br />determining the appropriateness of items to be accepted for sale. <br />The Center reserves the right to reject items for display and sale <br />based on these guidelines. <br /> <br />Each participant is responsible for setting the sale price of items <br />accepted for display. Senior Center Staff will be available to make <br />su§gestions based on other sales, but the decision regarding price <br />will be that of the participant. <br /> <br /> <br />
