240 <br /> <br /> There was no one present to speak~against the proposed rezontng, and the <br />public hearing was closed at 9:40 P.M. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved Petition 91-08 by Dogwood Partners, to <br />rezone 260 acres between Highway 73 West and Trinity Church Road from I-2 and <br />R-40 to I-1. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Ms. Martha Miller, President of the Council on Aging, Inc., presented the <br />following recommendation from the Council on Aging: <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Council on Aging, Inc., shall transfer its <br />remaining funds which were contributions that were collected <br />beginning in December 1989 through January 31, 1991 exclusive of <br />interest earned to Cabarrus county. Release of funds is contingent <br />upon receiving assurance from the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners that this sum of money will be used for the Cabarrus <br />County Senior Center, specifically for the purchase and installation <br />of a public address system and for the future expansion of the <br />parking lot. <br /> <br />The sum to be transferred on August 27 totaled $39,665.87. In conclusion, Ms. <br />Miller noted that the Council on Aging, Inc., had previously purchased and <br />installed the following items at the Senior Center: security system at a cost <br />of $4,238.90, oak handrails in main corridors at a cost of $3,723.00 and a <br />Wurtilizer Grand Piano at a cost of $7,297.50. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board accepted the contribution in the amount of <br />$39,665.87 from the Cabarrus County Council on Aging, Inc., to be used for the <br />purposes for which it was offered for the purchase and installation of a public <br />address system and for the future expansion of the parking lot. <br /> Ms. Diane Seaford, Budget Officer, and Ms. Angela Ferguson, Aging <br />Director, reviewed the proposed budget amendment relative to the Elderly and <br />Handicapped Transportation Assistance Program (EHTAP) funding from the North <br />Carolina Department of Transportation. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following budget amendment. <br /> <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF AGING <br />AMOUNT $45,772.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: To appropriate funds for the purchase of equipment approved <br />but not purchased in the 1990-91 budget.
