CABARRUS COUNTY Cabarrus County, North Carolina <br />New Courthouse and Renovations to the S I L L I N G <br />Current Cabarrus County Courthouse <br />AIA Document B202-2009 Standard Form Architect's Services: Programming <br />Based on the programming session(s) the Architect will develop Courtroom Space Planning drawings <br />and three-dimensional digital abstract models to illustrate the size, scale, and relationship of each of <br />the courtroom types as required by the County. The drawings shall indicate the courtroom features <br />Attachment A <br />including judges' bench, witness stand, clerk and other court stations, jury box where required, <br />litigation well with counsel tables, gallery rail, and spectator seating. The courtroom modeling is <br />intended to depict the quality of each courtroom site -line, courtroom accessibility, and the integration <br />of courtroom technology. Upon approval of the abstract design the Architect will develop <br />construction drawings for the purposes of the development of abstract courtroom mock-up(s). <br />8. Abstract Courtroom Mock-up(s) <br />As indicated in item 7, the Architect will develop construction drawings for the purposes of the <br />development of abstract courtroom mock-up(s) in a facility selected by the County, and to be <br />constructed by a third -party. It is anticipated that the abstract mock-up(s) shall be constructed of <br />plywood or similar building materials in the actual heights of bench platforms, rails, and desk tops of <br />the functional elements indicated in item 7. The mock up shall include simulation of evidence <br />presentation devices such as evidence presentation carts, video monitors, and projection screens. The <br />mock-up shall use materials to simulate the location of the courtroom(s) walls to illustrate the actual <br />scale of the courtroom. It shall be inclusive of built-in ramps and steps to facilitate access and the <br />exploration by all stakeholders of each court station and the related site lines throughout the <br />courtroom. It shall be reviewed and approved by the County; and subject to any agreed -to revisions, <br />the approved courtroom(s) to be included in the final Space Programming Document. <br />9. Data Collection <br />The Architect will collect or assist the County in the collection and documentation of the following <br />relevant programming level project data: <br />a. Site Survey: To be procured by the County <br />b. Geotechnical Subsurface Investigation Report: To be procured by the County <br />c. Hazardous Material Reports: To be procured by the County <br />d. Existing Courthouse As -Built Conditions to include existing drawings and on-site observation <br />e. Relevant code and design criteria abstract <br />f. Authorities Having Jurisdiction review requirements <br />g. North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts relevant background information <br />10. Court Technology Programming <br />The Architect will conduct Court Technology Programming and Planning Sessions with representatives <br />as determined by the County to identify and document the building -wide technology requirements. <br />11. Courthouse Space Needs Program Requirements <br />The Architect will develop comprehensive space needs requirements in the form of spreadsheets, <br />room data sheets, adjacency diagrams and other information that details each court and justice <br />support office.
