Lieutenant Aaron Rankin serves as the <br />coordinator and organizer for BikeSafeNC in our region of North Carolina. A <br />grant in the amount of $10,000 will cover the cost of education event materials, <br />equipment and travel. No local match is required. The Governor's Highway Safety <br />Program (GESP) supports and oversees the statewide BikeSafeNC. <br />A BikeSafeNC Regional Law Enforcement Liaison serves as coordinator and <br />organizer for BikeSafeNC activities in his/her respective region. The <br />Governor's Highway Safety Program supports and oversees the statewide BikeSafeNC <br />program. Coordination of this program is accomplished by utilizing six regional <br />BikeSafeNC Regional Law Enforcement Liaison (RLEL) positions. Planning, <br />preparation and reporting activities for BikeSafe training and events occurs <br />through the guidance and coordination efforts of the liaisons. BikeSafeNC RLELs <br />are responsible for continued efforts to promote and involve law enforcement <br />agencies in these lifesaving endeavors. To this end, Law Enforcement Liaisons <br />are required to host events, attend and conduct meetings, assist other BikeSafe <br />agencies with organizing events, respond to public inquiries associated with <br />their region, and report all efforts and activities back to the GHSP Statewide <br />Coordinator. The requested monies for equipment will be used to purchase a <br />larger BikeSafeNC tent. This will be used during special event to promote <br />BikeSafe and motorcycle safety. The in-state funds will be used to attend <br />quarterly regional meetings.
