Ms. Goodwin stated wood slivers from the cedar log used as a ribbon for <br />the opening of Rob Wallace Park were converted into Dedication Day plaques. <br />These plaques were presented to distinguished guests and hung in the park <br />office. She announced iTek Graphics submitted this innovative idea to the <br />Printing Industries of America and received the distinction of Best Decorative <br />Printing. She then presented a plaque in appreciation, to the Cabarrus County <br />Active Living and Parks Department. Londa Strong, Active Living and Parks <br />Director, Byron Haigler, Active Living and Parks, Superintendent and Joshua <br />Coffman, Active Living and Parks, Park Program Manager, accepted the award on <br />behalf of the County. Kristin Bunton, Outreach Coordinator, was also in <br />attendance. <br />Chairman Morris congratulated the Active Living and Parks and commended <br />the Communications and Outreach Department for their role in this achievement. <br />(C-4) Communications and Outreach - Cabarrus County Awarded for Excellence in <br />Communications Efforts <br />Jonathan Marshall, Deputy County Manager, announced the Cabarrus County <br />Communications and Outreach team recently earned eight honors during the 2018 <br />conference of the North Carolina City and County Communicators (NC3C). The <br />conference was held in New Bern April 18 through 20. <br />The County received awards in a variety of communications categories, <br />including print, online and TV/video. The County's redesigned website - a <br />collaboration between communications and the Information Technology <br />Services Department - was also awarded. <br />Categories and winning entries are <br />First Place <br />
