<br />Cindy Fertenbaugh, Cabarrus County Schools Board of Education, Board
<br />Chair, provided opening comments regarding the schools' needs and budget
<br />request.
<br />Dr. Chris Lowder, Cabarrus County Schools (CCS), Superintendent,
<br />presented a PowerPoint presentation titled "Cabarrus County Schools Budget
<br />Requests 2018-2019". Topics included were as follows:

<br />There was discussion throughout the presentation. During discussion, Dr.
<br />Lowder and Kelly Kluttz, CCS, Chief Finance Officer, and Ms. Fertenbaugh
<br />responded to questions from the Board.

<br />Commissioner Kiger presented a proposal on behalf of Commissioner Poole
<br />for an Early Childhood Development Task Force. It was requested the following
<br />persons be appointed to the task force: Pam Dubois, Senior Deputy County
<br />Manager; Elizabeth Pooley .County Gdmmissioner, Blake Kiger, County
<br />Commissioner, Jackie Whitfield,Early Childhood Advocate/Faith Community
<br />Representative, Gina Smith, Early Childhood and Exceptional Children
<br />Advocate/Retired Charlotte -Mecklenburg Schools/Queens University Instructor;
<br />Ann Benfield, Cabarrus Partnership for Children, Executive Director; Susan
<br />Horne, Cabarrus Health Alliance; Megan Shuping, Cabarrus Health Alliance; Nancy
<br />Kiger, Cabarrus County Schools, Physical Therapist; Meredith Lassiter, Mary
<br />Francis Wall; Lauren Riley, Mary Francis Wall; Jeanette Baucom, McKnight Child
<br />Development Center; a representative from Cabarrus County Schools psychologist
<br />with experience working in early childhood and a representative from Cabarrus
<br />County Department of Human Resources. This group would determine the task force
