June 18, 2018 (Regular Meeting) Page 3615 <br />(H-3) Appointments - Centralina Workforce Development Board <br />The terms of appointment for Tracie Brunt and Milton Chicas "private <br />sector" representatives on the Centralina Workforce Development Board end June <br />30, 2018. Both are willing to serve another term and a recommendation letter <br />has been provided in that regard. <br />Ms. Brunt resides in Mecklenburg County. An exception to the "residency" <br />provision of the Appointment Policy will be needed for her. Mr. Chicas resides <br />in Gaston County and has served on this Board since 2010. An exception to the <br />"residency" and "length of service" provisions of the Appointment Policy will <br />be needed for him. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Niger, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br />unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Tracie Brunt and Milton Chicas to <br />the Centralina Workforce Development Board as "private sector" representatives <br />for two-year terms ending June 30, 2020; including an exception to the <br />"residency" provision of the Appointment Policy for Ms. Brunt and an exception <br />to the "residency" and "length of service" provisions of the Appointment Policy <br />for Mr. Chicas. <br />(H-6) Appointments - Concord Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) <br />Last year the Concord Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) requested <br />a Board or staff member to represent the County at their board meetings. Jonathan <br />Marshall was appointed to fill that position. His term on the CDDC Board ends <br />June 30, 2018. He is willing to serve another term. He also serves on the Water <br />and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County and resides in Mecklenburg County. An <br />exception to the "residency" and "service on multiple boards" provisions of the <br />Appointment Policy will be needed for him if reappointed. <br />Commissioner Shue LVED to reappoint Jonathan Marshall to the Concord <br />Downtown Development Board for a one-year term ending June 30, 2019; including <br />an exception to the "residency" and "service on multiple boards" provisions of <br />the Appointment Policy. Vice Chairman Honeycutt seconded the motion. <br />Following a brief discussion, the MOTION unanimously carried. <br />(H-5) Appointments - Harrisburg Planning and Zoning Board and Board of <br />Adjustments (ETJ) <br />Lloyd Quay, Jr. 'a term on the Harrisburg Planning and Zoning Board and <br />Board of Adjustment as an ETJ (Extraterritorial Jurisdiction) representative <br />expires June 30, 2018. He has indicated he is willing to be reappointed. If <br />reappointed, an exception to the "length of service" provision of the <br />Appointment Policy will be needed for him. A letter of recommendation from the <br />Harrisburg Planning Director is included in that regard. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Lloyd Quay, Jr. to the Harrisburg <br />Planning and Zoning Board and Board of Adjustment as an ETJ representative for <br />a three-year term ending June 30, 2021; including an exception to the "length <br />of service" provision of the Appointment Policy. <br />(H-6) Appointments - Mental Health Advisory Board <br />It is requested to add an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) position to <br />the Mental Health Advisory Board. It is also requested to appoint Justin Brines <br />to fill that position. A letter of recommendation in that regard has been <br />provided. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Honeycutt, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved to add a First Responder position to <br />the Mental Health Advisory Board roster. <br />Commissioner Kiger MOVED to appoint Justin Brines to the Mental Health <br />Advisory Board as the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) representative for a <br />two-year term ending June 30, 2020. Commissioner Shue seconded the motion. <br />Following a brief discussion, the MOTION unanimously carried. <br />(H-7) Appointments - Region F Aging Advisory Committee <br />The terms for Region F Aging Advisory Committee members Tom Kurzel and <br />Ida Mills expire on June 30, 2018. <br />
