June 18, 2018 (Regular Meeting) Page 3615 (H-3) Appointments - Centralina Workforce Development Board The terms of appointment for Tracie Brunt and Milton Chicas "private sector" representatives on the Centralina Workforce Development Board end June 30, 2018. Both are willing to serve another term and a recommendation letter has been provided in that regard. Ms. Brunt resides in Mecklenburg County. An exception to the "residency" provision of the Appointment Policy will be needed for her. Mr. Chicas resides in Gaston County and has served on this Board since 2010. An exception to the "residency" and "length of service" provisions of the Appointment Policy will be needed for him. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Niger, seconded by Commissioner Shue and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Tracie Brunt and Milton Chicas to the Centralina Workforce Development Board as "private sector" representatives for two-year terms ending June 30, 2020; including an exception to the "residency" provision of the Appointment Policy for Ms. Brunt and an exception to the "residency" and "length of service" provisions of the Appointment Policy for Mr. Chicas. (H-6) Appointments - Concord Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) Last year the Concord Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) requested a Board or staff member to represent the County at their board meetings. Jonathan Marshall was appointed to fill that position. His term on the CDDC Board ends June 30, 2018. He is willing to serve another term. He also serves on the Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County and resides in Mecklenburg County. An exception to the "residency" and "service on multiple boards" provisions of the Appointment Policy will be needed for him if reappointed. Commissioner Shue LVED to reappoint Jonathan Marshall to the Concord Downtown Development Board for a one-year term ending June 30, 2019; including an exception to the "residency" and "service on multiple boards" provisions of the Appointment Policy. Vice Chairman Honeycutt seconded the motion. Following a brief discussion, the MOTION unanimously carried. (H-5) Appointments - Harrisburg Planning and Zoning Board and Board of Adjustments (ETJ) Lloyd Quay, Jr. 'a term on the Harrisburg Planning and Zoning Board and Board of Adjustment as an ETJ (Extraterritorial Jurisdiction) representative expires June 30, 2018. He has indicated he is willing to be reappointed. If reappointed, an exception to the "length of service" provision of the Appointment Policy will be needed for him. A letter of recommendation from the Harrisburg Planning Director is included in that regard. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Lloyd Quay, Jr. to the Harrisburg Planning and Zoning Board and Board of Adjustment as an ETJ representative for a three-year term ending June 30, 2021; including an exception to the "length of service" provision of the Appointment Policy. (H-6) Appointments - Mental Health Advisory Board It is requested to add an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) position to the Mental Health Advisory Board. It is also requested to appoint Justin Brines to fill that position. A letter of recommendation in that regard has been provided. UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Honeycutt, seconded by Commissioner Shue and unanimously carried, the Board approved to add a First Responder position to the Mental Health Advisory Board roster. Commissioner Kiger MOVED to appoint Justin Brines to the Mental Health Advisory Board as the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) representative for a two-year term ending June 30, 2020. Commissioner Shue seconded the motion. Following a brief discussion, the MOTION unanimously carried. (H-7) Appointments - Region F Aging Advisory Committee The terms for Region F Aging Advisory Committee members Tom Kurzel and Ida Mills expire on June 30, 2018.
